The flaws of land-based farming

The arguments for moving all salmon production onto land are laced with "misinformation" according to Susan Farquharson, Executive Director of the Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Association.

Writing in response to a recent article in Nova Scotia’s Chronicle Herald, which argued in favour of land-based salmon production, Farquarson raised a number of points supporting the continuation of ocean-based production as the most environmentally sound option and one that makes Canada “a better place to live”.

She wrote: “I am a committed conservationist and as such, a staunch supporter of salmon farming. And yes, those two stances can absolutely co-exist – and do, much more often than..................................................
